Hi! Do you remember StumbleUpon? I can't tell you how many hours I would spend just stumbling on random websites by pressing that stumble button... Unfortunately the company behind StumbleUpon changed direction in 2018 and now exists as more of a social bookmarking app. Nowadays there are replacements for StumbleUpon, like Jumpstick, but I thought it would be fun if something like StumbleUpon existed, but it only stumbles on sites hosted on Neocities.
Well, Neocities already has a random sites page, where you can browse random sites hosted on Neocities. But it doesn't really feel the same to me as StumbleUpon did. There are too many options! I don't want a list of random sites that I have to choose from, I want to just go to a random site immediately!
So I made it! If you click the Wander Button at the top of this page, a new tab will open to a totally random site hosted on Neocities!
This works by fetching the html for the random Neocities page, putting all links containing a url of a Neocities page into an array, and then picking one url from that array at random and opening it as a link. If you click on the expore button instead, it will instead take you to a random site from the most popular sites on Neocities.
If you'd prefer to not have to open a new tab every time, and have the Wander button always available at the top of the page to move on to a new site, you can use the dedicated Wanderer for that!
The image below is not an ad, well at least not a malicious one. It's called a "Johnvertisement." To the best of my knowledge, Johnvertisements are a collection of user-submitted ads for their own perosnal websites. Whenever you refresh this page, the image and link will change.
If you'd rather browse lists of websites instead of just going to a random one, there are websites out there dedicated to that too!
